You are already so busy with a jam-packed schedule from morning 'til night. The kids & pets need your attention, dinner needs to be cooked, laundry put away and let's not forget about the party you are attending where you promised you'd bring appetizers. The point is, life can be a little hectic without all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Adding in shopping at overcrowded stores, holiday parties and decorating, the season that is supposed to be fun can turn out to be really stressful! This is where time management can really become your best friend. With that said, here are a few helpful tips to keep you jolly during this festive time of year: Create a time budget similar to a budget you would create for money. Spend no more time on a certain holiday task than the allotted time you gave yourself. This system will help you stay on track & hopefully reduce the feeling of becoming overwhelmed. Jot down a master to-do list including everything from tasks that are part of your normal everyday routine to the holiday extras. Seeing everything on paper will not only help you prioritize what is most important but will also help you delegate some of the tasks to others. Try your hardest to just go with the flow. Things are going to come up. They always do. But the key is to try and not stress out about it. For example, if you are stuck in traffic on the way to a party, take that time to enjoy your family and good conversation. Plan ahead for events you may be hosting or projects such as creating your own holiday decorations. Setting a specific date for events or projects can help you "walk backwards" on a calendar. That will allow you to start your project or plan your event with plenty of time so you won't be left trying to tackle the large project or prepping for a party at the last minute. Look at your calendar daily. By taking a glance at your planner everyday, you are less likely to forget something you may have jotted down months ago. Lastly, find time to relax. Thinking this is easier said then done? Well, to a degree...but make time to relax a priority. Schedule it in as you would anything else on your calendar. So kick back, relax and enjoy this holiday season!
