After doing a bit of research about what most people think about their body shape, I was astonished with what I read!
Okay, lets focus on women here, because we are the ones who seem to have more of a problem with our bodies than men. Although men do seem to have just as much of a problem with their bodies, they just don't obsess over it like us women do!
According to an article I had read awhile back published by the Washington Post, nearly 97% of 300 women that were surveyed reported that they hated their body in one way or another. This survey unveiled pretty unsettling news, stating that most women have as many as 50 negative thoughts about their body a day!
As I sit here at my desk thinking mean thoughts about the little pooch I just can't seem to shed after giving birth, I wonder why we do this to ourselves?

There are multiple factors that play into these negative thoughts including unrealistic societal norms (think of all the thin women portrayed in the most popular fashion magazines), as well as impossible standards that are set in place for the ideal female form. But believe it or not, most of our thoughts are just simply a bad habit.
The Washington Post stated that the psychologist who helped design the survey, pointed out that the negative thoughts we conger up about our bodies have more to do with other unpleasant things that are going on in our lives. Things such as unfulfilling jobs and unhealthy relationships.
To love our bodies, we need to break this cycle of thinking, similar to breaking a bad habit. How do we do this?
Here are a few tips that will help guide you in the path of loving your body:
STOP. Just imagine a big stop sign every time you find your mind wandering into a negative thought. Then, turn that thought into a positive one. Instead of thinking how gross you think your thighs are, remember just how beautiful your smile is and how it lights up a room.
Appreciate your body for what it is and what it can do. Here is where I need to take my own advice! I gave birth to an absolutely beautiful baby 8 months ago. I should be so thankful for being able to create such a precious life and appreciate what my body went through. I do appreciate it, don't get me wrong... but I also find myself obsessing over those last pesky pounds that seem impossible to shed.

Learn to focus on the parts of your body you love. It will not only build your confidence but will make you realize you are in fact gorgeous just the way you are. Keep in mind that everyone has something they don't like about themselves. Probably even super models such as Heidi Klum have these thoughts. Try to avoid them and think in a positive light.
Believe what others say. Next time your significant other tells you that you look stunning in that little black dress, don't discount the comment. Accept it and realize your probably do look pretty smashing!
What inspired me to write this article is a company called Love your Body, located in West Chester. The company focuses on making their clients feel and look beautiful.
They specialize in LipoLaser, using safe energy to target specific fat cells, stimulating the cell to release water, free fatty acids and glycerol all pain free. Love your Body also offers Micro Current Facial or body treatments.
While I am not suggesting you run out and get lipolaser because you hate your body image, I wanted to share the message that this company sends out, which is to love your body!
