One of our favorite parts of what we do here at cincysavers.com is how many people we get to help every single day! I get emails from people telling me how they were able to survive all kinds of economic calamities because of the money-saving and stockpiling techniques I've taught them. Those emails? Those are the good stuff. The ones that make me excited to get up each day and go to work--because I know I get to help people make it through tough times!
Last January we took up the challenge here at cincysavers to make a BIG difference in a BIG way. Becky and I were given $1000 to go shopping with, to stock the shelves at the Brighton Center food pantry. We took that $1000 and worked coupon magic, with the help of Kroger, Remke bigg's and Walmart. We took advantage of current sales, combined them with coupons, and walked away with more than $6500 in groceries and health and beauty products for the Brighton Center. You can see our recap and information on how we did it--and how you can do it for your own family--in our $1K Challenge section of our site.
We spent four weeks planning and shopping! One day I shopped for 8 hours! The total was $3,067 before coupons--$193.47 after coupons. Another trip--and this is a moment I will never in my lifetime ever forget--the total was $1847 before coupons, and $36 after. I cried, I jumped up and down, and I was in disbelief. Partly because of the totals--but mostly because of how many people those groceries were going to feed!
While that was fun, you don't need to do massive shops like that--or get 1100 boxes of cereal in one trip--to make a big difference in someone's life! If every few weeks you notice something that is free after coupons and pick it up to donate you'll quickly gather a large pile of food and health and beauty goods that other people will be so very grateful for! If even 20% of our readers here at cincysavers.com picked up just two items to donate every month, there would be 32,000 items donated to local food banks every month! 32,000 items donated a month!! Can you imagine what an impact that would make on our city?
This is something small you can do to make a big impact. This CartBuster Savings Event--and the Mega Sale next week--are perfect for this. Every time you go to the store, simply pick up one extra item for the donation bin. If you're wanting to do something positive to help others, to impact lives--that is a very small step that will make a huge difference in someone's life!
