One product almost every woman buys is makeup, making it an easy first step in buying more products Made in America. We tend to buy or try lots of makeup every year, so by being more selective in what you buy, you can make a big impact in our economy with something you were already going to buy anyway!

As we continue our Made in America series, I want to share with you one of my favorite products. A few years back I tried mineral makeup and was hooked. It goes on light, it looks natural, but it gives a full coverage and healthy glow to my skin without a lot of effort. Frankly, my skin didn't look this good when I was 25! My favorite mineral makeup is Everyday Minerals, and I'm thrilled to discover it is all made here in the USA, in Austin, TX. All of their products are vegan and gluten-free, and the company is very eco-friendly. There are no fillers in the makeup and the entire line is completely all-natural.

Even more than all of that--the makeup really makes you look GOOD. I have this very pale, very blotchy skin without makeup on. (It isn't pretty. If you've met me in the grocery store you likely know just what I mean!)  It can be really hard to find makeup that gives me full coverage that will match my pale skin and won't make my skin breakout. Add in that I'm extremely picky about makeup--I hate feeling like I have makeup on. Heavy makeup just bugs me! A light dusting of the base powder is all it takes--my skin looks flawlessly smooth within seconds, and it lasts all day long. I use their base, their blush and their concealor on a daily basis.  I'm also a huge fan of their brushes and beauty tools.

Even better? You can try them for free! (You all know how I love that word FREE!) Nothing is that expensive to begin with, but to encourage you to try out their products and test out different colors, they give away free trial kits every day. They've been doing this for years--it's how I finally gave them a try. Plus they have other bonuses all the time that can be combined with the free trial kit! I will often buy the large size of the base powder in the Original Glo formula ($12), plus one brush or tool ($7-$12). Add in the free trial kit and any bonuses, and I'll often have six months of base powder, a new brush, and some blush/color makeup for under $25, including shipping. That is a fantastic deal for mineral makeup!

Try it for yourself! Here's how to get your free sample kit with seven sample size jars:

  1. Visit EverydayMinerals.com and choose their Try Me page.
  2. Select any of the base powder kits marked $5 and add them to your cart.
  3. The $5 discount will appear in your cart. All you pay is shipping!

By the way, here's a little makeup tip for all of you that I learned from a makeup artist before going on tv a few years ago: dust fine lines and darker shadow areas of your face lightly with a pearl champagne colored eye shadow or dusting powder and it will reflect out the light, making your face look younger and lines less prominent. (Not that I have any lines...Ha!)
