Keep on reading if you want to learn how to make this adorable personalized picture and note board. This project is so versatile! It can be used to display photos in a child's room, to remind yourself of things to do by putting it up in a central location of your home or by hanging the board in your office to add a little color to boring gray cubicle walls.

What's even better? You can use any paint color or ribbon you wish to get the look and theme you want.

Supplies:

  • Acrylic Craft Paint. You can find little 2oz bottles at crafts stores or Walmart usually for under $1 Make sure to pick up 2 colors.
  • Crackle Acrylic Paint (this is completely optional, but I used it on the wood border to get a "rustic look"
  • Paint Brush. (medium size)
  • Corkboard. I choose one of the smaller sized cork boards but there are usually a variety of sizes to choose from at office stores.
  • Scissors
  • Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks
  • Rhinestones or any other decorative items you'd like to add to your board.
  • Newspaper or Rag. This is so you don't get paint all over the place.
  • Paper Plate or Paint Dish.
  • Ribbon of your choice
  • masking tape or painters tape

1. Once you have your supplies gathered, it's time to get down to business.
Start by taping off the cork on your corkboard so the wood frame can be painted without making a mess of the cork.
After you paint the wood frame, if you choose to apply the crackle finish paint, make sure to do it while the first coat of paint is still wet. There will be directions on the bottle of the crackle paint and really it is pretty simple.

2. After the wood frame is completely dry, take off the painters or masking tape and carefully paint the cork. I am going to warn you, cork is absorbent so you are probably going to have to lay the paint on in several separate coats.

3. So your corkboard is painted. Now the fun part! Add your choice of ribbon that you want to run diagonally across the board.  You can run the ribbon any way you would like. I kind of criss-crossed mine at random and glued it with a hot glue gun on either side then snipped off the excess ribbon. Just make sure you keep the ribbon taut so your pictures and papers won't slide out once you hang the board on the wall.

4. Last step! Add rhinestones, your photos and notes! I glued little silver rhinestones at every point where the ribbon crossed for a little extra pizazz. This is a completely optional step but I thought it looked cute.

And Voila! The finished project. Pretty easy, right?
