Nina Garcia is known as the judge of Project Runway who will bluntly share with the designers what she thinks about their designs, negative or positive. Not that they all don't do that, but there is something about Nina, who just so happens to also be the fashion editor for Marie Clare Magazine.

Why am talking about Nina? Because last night's  episode of Project Runway was all about her.

This episodes challenge was to create a look for the very particular fashion editor herself. As she surprised the designers with the news of their newest endeavor, the list of criteria for the outfit she would ideally want kept getting longer. I think I heard her say "I don't like" about 10 times as she spewed out a long list of things she'd prefer not to see strut down the runway.  Another catch, she wanted the outfit to be easily transitioned from day to night, or as she put it, from the office to fashion industry events.

If that weren't enough pressure, she also happened to mention that the winning look of this week's challenge would be graced on the sides of New York City taxi cabs, modeled by Nina of course, for all of New Yorks streets to gaze upon.

Heading back to the workroom, the designers were given thirty minutes to sketch before each getting a one on one consultation with Nina herself. Having Nina as a client was nothing short of easy as it appeared she is pretty tough to please. By this time most designers on the show were already freaking out as they trekked on over to Mood Fabrics to select their fabrics on a $200 budget.

I have to admit, I was scared for a lot of designers halfway into this episode. Literally sitting on the edge of my couch, I watched many little disasters unfold.  Nina entered the workroom to analyze the designers work thus far. Anya, (you know, the designer that only started sewing 4 months ago?) decided she would create a tailored jumpsuit. As Nina asked her what Plan B was, she simply stated she had no Plan B. Yikes!  Julies collar on her dress/coat/I don't know was too big for Nina's taste and in a very strange coincidence, Becky and Anthony Ryan grabbed the same distinct fabric while at Mood. Nina described that Cecilia chose as mousy. (Wait, did I miss what this terminology meant while in fashion school?)

Per usual, the designers were given a few hours the following morning to fit the models in their "Nina inspired looks" and hit up the accessory wall only before sending them off to get styled by the hair and make-up artists.

As the designs were showcased on the runway, Nina was right there to judge every one of them, accompanied by guest judge Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire and actress Kerry Washington.

Viktor, Anya and Kimberley had the highest scores. Aside from getting a little help sewing in the workroom by fellow designer Lauren, Anya really pulled her jumpsuit together at the last minute. Viktor had made a little black dress which I instantly fell in love with. And Kimberley created the winning look, a gorgeously cut sparkly gold top to accompany her impeccably made trousers.  Sometimes I don't always agree with the judges' decisions but this time I did. Kimberley's' outfit was nothing short of what Nina wanted.

This leaves me to discuss the lowest scores who were attached to Cecilia, Danielle and Julie. Poor Julie ended up hearing "auf wiedersehen" from Heidi tonight but honestly, I kind of feel like we all saw that coming. Julie was not your typical fashion forward designer. She was known on the show as the tom boy who resided in the mountains of Colorado. Her designs always received low scores and her coat/dress number she designed tonight as no exception.

Do you agree with the judges?  Did you think is was fair to send Julie home? *Images courtesy of Marie Claire and My Lifetime
