Ever wonder what trends are popular this year for wedding dresses and bridal accessories?

If you are thinking yes, me too! I set out to find what is the hottest look right now for brides-to-be by heading over the bridge to talk to the wonderful bridal consultants at Fabulous Bridal in Covington, KY.  After spending the afternoon with these lovely ladies, I couldn't believe how much trends have changed over the years, even since I tied the knot in 2008!

Sure, the biggest trend is of course, the classic white wedding gown. I don't think that will ever change. However the styling, detailing and accessories are where the trends are present.

So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the top 5 bridal trends of 2011!

Trend #1: Textures
Making wedding dresses unique by adding textured fabric or creating texture with fabric is really in right now. Plus, there are so many different ways you can incorporate texture into your dress! Below is a picture of a wedding gown I absolutely fell in love with. This is an example of how the designer used fabric to create texture.

Below is another dress I really admired and is a perfect example of how textured fabric was used.

Is this not the most beautiful fabric? I am in love!

Trend #2: Vintage Inspiration
Anything from the sillouette, the color ivory to the intricate detailing of the dresses, vintage is in. While the dress itself may not be vintage, the inspiration is present. This trend also carries over into the bridal accessory department.
Cage veils are adorning ladies up-do, along with french net tulle and intricate head pieces.

Trend #3: Popping Colors
Gone are the days where it seemed odd to wear bright red shoes with your perfectly white attire. Referred to as "popping a color", this statement pretty much sums it up. Adding color to compliment your white gown can come in the form of bold colored blue shoes, a bright yellow belt or flashy pink earrings.
When I asked the bridal consultants at Fabulous Bridal what the most popular color was this season, most agreed on dark sapphire.

Trend #4: Belts
This trend is probably my favorite thus far. These days, brides are adding beautiful pearl or crystal encrusted belts as a focal point. Most of the belts I saw tied on, giving the bride the option to wear the belt centered or asymmetrically. They come in a variety of colors and the best part of accessorizing with a belt, you can wear it over and over again long after walking the aisle. I was so curious how a belt that is meant to be worn with a wedding dress looked with my ordinary dress and I have to say, I thought it looked super cute!

Trend #5: Fit
The fit of your wedding dress is probably one of the most important things when selecting the perfect dress for your big day. Currently, the most popular neckline remains the same as years past which is the classic sweetheart. It is a good choice for even the most diverse size of women. A-line is still the most popular choice for style, but can appear entirely different depending on the fabric used and the way it is styled. "Pick-ups (bunching of fabric) and layering combinations of fabric are the top two trends we see most women fall in love with" said one of the bridal consultants I spoke with.

What are you're thoughts? Do you like the current wedding dress and accessory trends?

I am loving the vintage inspired feel to all the dresses I saw. Fabulous Bridal has some pretty amazing dresses & accessories, with a huge selection to choose from. I am almost kind of sad that I already had my wedding, is that bad to say? Just being at Fabulous Bridal was so inspiring and fun. I loved the energy of the consultants and atmosphere.

Speaking of a fun, have you heard about Veils & Cocktails?
