The countdown is nearly over, fellow fashionistas! Tonight Lifetime kicks off the all-new Project Runway Season 9. I can't wait to see the new group of talented designers "Make it Work." This season is full of some great challenges that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering how this show got so fierce as Christian Siriano, the winner of season four, would say.
For the first time ever, Project Runway's staff has selected not 16 but 20 designers for the first episode of the season. After only an hour and a half show, already four of those designers will hear the words auf wiedersehen from the beautiful co-host of the show Heidi Klum. One of my favorite parts of the season is where they share the casting process prior to actual premier. As a fellow designer who has been a part of the Project Runway tryouts, I can really relate to all the work and time that goes into this process. I myself was in the running to appear on Project Runway Season 4 in 2007, having filled out a 30-page application, camping out in line and making it far enough in the process to have my designs critiqued by Tim Gunn himself! I know from personal experience that it's nerve wrecking; watch tonight at 8 p.m. to see the behind-the-scenes casting session for this season before the premiere begins at 9 p.m. on Lifetime and see how the possible contestants deal with the stress and show their creativity. This is going to be the best Thursday in a long time for me . . . two and a half hours of all new Project Runway! Check back all season as I recap Project Runway episodes and get your feedback on all the designers. Who is your favorite designer from prior seasons? Are you excited about this season? What challenges would you like to see? Megan Fenno, of FennoFashion, is Q102 and cincysavers.com resident fashion expert. She is the CincyChic Woman of the Year in Fashion and a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in fashion design and accessories. She'll share industry-insider take each week!
