Every now and then, one just needs an indulgence. For years the Cookie Jar Bakery at 919 Monmouth St. in Newport, Ky has been my choice for an indulgent treat. We all know that a doughnut is not "good for you", but one bite of the Cookie Jar's amazing glazed yeast doughnut will make you forget. The treat is light and fluffy, and the glaze is something that I have never found a comparison for. Instead of being an ooey-gooey mess of icing, the glaze is light and flaky. Please take time to try one or maybe even two. There is usually on-street parking right in front of the bakery. Best to go early to mid-morning because they often sell out. They are that good!
