Have you been thinking about giving back to the community, but don't know where to start? If so, we have some suggestions! A.D.O.P.T. an Animal at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical GardenWhere: Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical GardenWhat: Do you love visiting the zoo and seeing all the animals? A fun way to help the animals is by adopting one! By adopting an animal, you help by providing food, toys and fun for the zoo's animal family! Right now you can adopt Zuri, the new Massai giraffe calf. The $65 A.D.O.P.T. package includes a customized certificate with a color photo of Zuri, a Massai giraffe fact sheet, a special commemorative photo showing Tessa, Kimba and baby Zuri bonding just one hour after birth, plus a "Flopsie" giraffe plush toy!
Volunteer at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical GardenWhere: Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical GardenWhat: If you're an animal lover, a great way to support the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is by volunteering. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages, including: Education, horticulture, special events, clerical work, ambassadors, craft making or working with CREW (research facility).Volunteers receive special privileges including educational opportunities, social events with other volunteers, discounts at the zoo's restaurants and gift shops and a monthly newsletter specifically for volunteers. Right now, the zoo is looking for volunteer educators who are willing to make a two-year commitment. Volunteer educators lead guests on animal-themed investigations and give animal demonstrations. The Center for Community Engagement blood driveWhen: Monday, May 23, through Friday, May 27 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.Where: University of CincinnatiWhat: There is always a need for blood and there may be a day when you need blood. This new and innovative program will reward volunteers with free Reds ticket vouchers. The program is designed to assist and beautify parks and green spaces throughout Cincinnati, as well as along the riverfront and around the Great American Ball Park. Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis National Evening WalkWhen: Saturday, June 11, from 5- 8 p.m.Where: Sawyer Point-705 E. Pete Rose Way Cincinnati, OH 45202What: More than 1.4 million American adults and children are affected by digestive diseases -- one in every 200 Americans! This evening walk is part of a national celebration dedicated to finding cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Arby's Charity Tour CincinnatiWhen: Monday, June 13 from 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.Where: Ivy Hills Country Club- 7711 Ivy Hills Blvd Cincinnati, OH 45244What: The Boys & Girls Clubs provides daily afterschool and summer programming for over 11,000 children between the ages of 6 and 18 at seven locations in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati and the Arby's Charity Tour have teamed up to put together a charity golf tournament for a great cause and are inviting you to help us make a brighter future for the youth of greater Cincinnati!

Through a fun and supportive atmosphere, youth participants can gain an appreciation for history, architecture, and construction techniques, in addition to the insight and resources needed to explore related careers. Big Brothers Big SistersWhere: 2400 Reading Road Cincinnati, OH 45202What: This organization has been helping change the lives of young people since 1904. By pairing children with a positive mentor, the program helps area youths achieve their full potential. If you would like to be a Big and make a difference in a child's life. This volunteer opportunity is offered all year.
The SPCA of CincinnatiWhere: Northside and SharonvilleWhat: SPCA volunteers educate people about the humane treatment of animals, receive lost and unwanted animals at the shelter and help return them to their proper owners or place them in a new, loving home. The SPCA has volunteer opportunities all year.Contact & Other Information: Click here for details and an application. Freestore FoodbankWhere: 1250 Tennessee Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45229What: The Freestore Foodbank serves people from 20 different counties in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. It is the largest in the area, meaning of course that they appreciate any help they can get to continue serving our community. Aside from satiating the need for food the Foodbank also offers various programs to those in need, including emergency rent assistance and emergency clothing. Volunteers make it possible for the Freestore Foodbank to have such a magnanimous reach. You can volunteer year-round at the Freestore Foodbank.
The Ndukwe FoundationWhat: The Bengal's defensive back Chinedum Ndukwe started this organization in 2009 to help inner-city kids. They not only raise money and awareness, but the Ndukwe Foundation has various events to encourage active lifestyles in young people.
