According to Coupons.com, Cincinnatians really love to save money! Now, we knew this already, as we know how many of our fellow Cincinnatians print coupons and buy HalfPriceCincy certificates. But did you know we are the third most frugal city in the country?!?

For the second year in a row Cincinnati has been ranked third on the list of the most frugal cities in the country. Atlanta and Tampa are the first and second most frugal cities on the list, respectively. The other surprise is how often Cincinnatians use mobile devices to get savings--Cincinnati is fourth in the country for mobile and smartphone coupon usage!
Ohio is ranked as the most frugal state in the country, with Cleveland (#8) and Columbus (#19) also making the Top 20 list.
Even bigger news is how many coupons were used overall in 2010. It was a record-setting year, with 332 billion coupons redeemed for a total value of $3.7 billion in savings! Compared to 2009, this is an increase of 21 billion coupons, or $200 million in savings value. NCH marketing tracked a 37% rise in digital coupons offered to consumers. That's a huge jump in one year, reflecting an overall shift in consumer, retailer and manufacturer perception of coupons as a whole.
Overall, 78 percent of those surveyed by NCH said they use coupons regularly. In 2009 only 64% said they used coupons regularly.  That's a significant jump!  So the next time someone looks at you rudely or makes a comment about your coupons you can tell them "Hey, coupons are cool now!"
The list is put together by Coupons.com, the top company in the coupons and savings industry.  The rankings are based on statistics they gather via their Coupons.com website and mobile phone apps, relative to the overall size of the city.
I just love seeing so many frugals in Cincinnati!
