New York & Company is one of my favorite clothing stores. Their clothes are fashionable without being over-the-top-trendy. Their pieces hold up to my abuse pretty well, often lasting several years. The biggest trend in fashion right now is layering--short sleeve shirts with long sleeve shirts under them, a belt on top of it all, with a cardigan over it. Jeggings or leggings work well, with different long and short jewelry at the neck and the arm. You can mix a scarf into all of this as well. The textures and patterns stay light, but because there are so many layers, it looks very pulled together--yet funky and fun. I love it because with the switch of accessories I can go from mom-at-home to work to girls-night-out.
I've got an outfit right now from there that I'd live in every day if I could. It is so comfy and pretty! It is the Twisted Ruffle Cardigan in Blue Heather, with the Streetwear Drape Neck Tee (so soft!!), their jeggings, and then a long double stranded bead necklace. I love the necklace because I can wear it long for a comfortable look, or double it up for a more formal look. I add a stretch belt over the tee, and I've got the multi-layered look in very easy, comfortable clothing.
