STORE LOYALTY PROGRAM: Walgreens has a similar program to CVS's, only a little less-evolved. They do not have special cards to keep track of. Instead, they use a system called Register Rewards.Register Rewards (RR) are similar to Catalinas and ECBs. The ads frequently say something like, "Purchase one Sure deodorant for $2.89, get $1 in Register Rewards." When you purchase the deodorant, at the end of the transaction the RR will print.Notice two things: One, they expire quickly. Two, you typically cannot use them on the same deal. Meaning, you can use them on a Venus razor Register Rewards deal from a different manufacturer, but you cannot use them on the Sure deodorant deal again and get more Register Rewards. They will not typically roll on the same item (but it has been known to happen). Also, if you buy two different Register Rewards items in the same transaction, two Register Rewards will print. However, if you buy two of the same Register Rewards items in the same transaction, you will only receive one RR. In that case it makes sense to split up the order into multiple transactions. For example, you buy one Sure deodorant and one Venus razor. You will get the Register Rewards for both the deodorant and the razor. However, if you bought two Sure deodorants in one order, you will only get one RR.So, they expire quickly, and sometimes you are also not allowed to use more than one at a time. Basically, this is a "your mileage may vary" situation - some stores limit one Register Reward per transaction, some allow as many as you have. But I put them on a gift card to prolong their lifespan. Once they are on the gift card I now can use them in any manner I like, and they won‘t expire. Check the rules on your Register Rewards to find out what is allowed in your area.MANUFACTURER COUPONS: Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and any applicable store coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item. Also, manufacturer coupons can be used on items that are on sale.STORE COUPONS: Along with their weekly ads, which are available at the front of the store (and online under the "Weekly Ad" tab near the upper right corner of every Walgreens website page), every month Walgreens publishes a little booklet you can also find in the front of the store. In that booklet are a set of store coupons (online they're often called IVRs, which means Instant Value Rewards) for products in-store. These are often decent coupons. If you should run into a buy-two-get-$3-off, but want to buy three items, this coupon will automatically adjust to the amount you have purchased. Meaning, if you buy two, you will get $3 off. But if you buy three, you will get $4.50 off. Now, here‘s the best part - at Walgreens you have four possible coupons you can use at any time and sometimes all at once! You can use a store coupon from the booklet, a coupon from the weekly ad, a manufacturer coupon AND a Register Reward!PRINTABLE COUPONS: Walgreens accepts printable coupons. (Please note these following printable coupon tips are not Walgreens-specific). Print your coupons from reliable sources, like from the grocery coupons section of cincysavers.com. Don't ever use coupons that pull up in Microsoft Word or a similar program. Stores do not put out coupons in this manner. One last note on couponing at Walgreens - their registers will limit you to the same number of coupons as items purchased. That means that you cannot use six coupons on three items. If you purchase three items, you will only be allowed three coupons.RAIN CHECKS: Walgreens offers rain checks when items are out of stock (unless otherwise indicated). Get these as they are your way to making sure you get your products and your savings! In some instances, a store employee may authorize the substitution of a similar product of the same brand at the advertised price. Rain checks can be obtained at checkout and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.STORE LOCATOR: Need to know where to find the closest Walgreens? Check out the Walgreens store locator.
