STORE LOYALTY PROGRAM: While Target does not have any kind of customer loyalty program, they DO have a quick rebate program in the form of Target gift cards. The deal usually runs something like "buy three items get and a $5 Target gift card." As the items are rung up, the register will automatically prompt the cashier to scan a gift card when you get to the magic number. You cannot use the gift card on that transaction, but it is activated and you can use it immediately on your next. Here are some examples:Buy 10 Sobe Life Waters and get a $5 gift card - they were 10/$10 and had $.50-off coupons available making them $5 for 10. So, you end up buying 10 for $5 OOP but you get the $5 gift card making them essentially free.Buy three Pantene products and get a $5 gift card - you use $2-off manufacturer coupons and $1-off Target coupons, making them free - and then you get the $5 gift card!Buy one Perfect 10 hair color and get a $5 gift card - you use a BOGO manufacturer coupon and a $2-off Target coupon, making the price $9 for two boxes - but you received a $10 gift card, essentially earning you a dollar!Sometimes they add fine print to the deals. With an Aveeno deal last year (buy three Aveeno produckts, get a $5 gift card) your total of items purchased had to be over $5 to get the gift card. So while the trial sizes counted toward the gift card deal, three of them at $.99 was less than $5. You wouldn‘t get the gift card. But one 2.6 oz Aveeno lotion at $3.29 plus two trial sizes at $.99 did work. You use a $2-off coupon and get the $5 gift card for only $3.29 OOP (That's a moneymaker!). Another deal limited how many gift cards you could get in one transaction. The key is to pay attention. Since gift cards accrue as the items are rung up, coupons do not affect gift card eligibility.MANUFACTUER COUPONS: Target accepts manufacturer coupons. However, they will only combine one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon for the same item (unless prohibited in the fine print of either coupon).STORE COUPONS: Target has wonderful coupons available on their website, and they frequently send out coupons via mail. Make sure to sign up for every registry, e-mail list and catalog sign-up they have! They send various coupons out to various lists, so make sure you're on all of them! And don't forget to register for your birthday coupons! Target also often offers $/$$ coupons - these add extra savings very quickly!PRINTABLE COUPONS: Target accepts printable coupons. (Please note these following printable coupon tips are not Target-specific). Print your coupons from reliable sources, like from the grocery coupons section of cincysavers.com. Don't ever use coupons that pull up in Microsoft Word or a similar program. Stores do not put out coupons in this manner.OTHER STORES' COUPONS: Target does not accept coupons from other stores.RAIN CHECKS: Target offers rain checks when items are out of stock (unless otherwise indicated). Look for the tear-away rain check pad on the shelf, tear one off and present it to the cashier at checkout. He or she will give you an official one printed from the register. Bring that one back in when they've restocked the item and you can buy it for the sale price printed on the rain check. (If there isn't a tear-away pad, then just write down the DPCI number and give that to the cashier instead.)You will find that some rain checks have an option printed at the bottom that allows you to get the same percentage off a substitute item that's in stock and similar to the one you intended to buy. Keep in mind that Target usually won't allow this policy in the electronics department. Also, rain checks are valid for 45 days.STORE LOCATOR: Need to find a Target store and need to find it fast?
